Growing up in rural Lincoln County, Allen was blessed with a brilliant analytical mind and won a full ride to UNC as a Morehead Scholar, including summer programs in business and law. Instead of cashing in, he decided to use those blessings to help people who are in trouble.

“I really care about my clients” says Allen. “Most have a legitimate story to be told but are up against the government or powerful insurance companies. My job is to know the law and the evidence inside-and-out, come up with a winning strategy, and use it to convince the judge or jury.”

Allen is at home in the courtroom; he’s been in court fighting for his clients almost every day for his entire career. And the range of his experience is startling: he has successfully handled virtually every type of criminal charge and civil lawsuit imaginable (see list below). He’ll know how to help you.

Allen has the respect of the other courtroom stakeholders. Our Judges know he’s fighting to win but also know he plays by the rules. Allen believes “Your reputation for integrity and preparation makes a difference to the weight given your arguments. Credibility matters.”

Allen also has extensive experience in handling appeals in all levels of appellate courts, including victories in the N.C. Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.

Allen’s youth at East Lincoln High School included numerous academic and athletic leadership awards. He went on to a distinguished undergraduate and law school career at UNC (Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Morehead Scholar). He has been active in the legal community, serving for 3 terms as chairman of the Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and also on numerous Court Committees at the request of our chief judge. He serves as a trustee of the thriving Mecklenburg Community Church and leads Large Group time with the Meckidz ministry. He loves spending time with wife Lynn and their sons and daughters-in-law Haynes & Brittany and Gray & Addy.
